"THE BACHELOR: AND THEN THERE WERE THREE...."

'Naomi' had the misfortune of being casualty numero four on 'The Bachelor' last night. I can't say that it didn't surprise me in the least though. I just found it a little strange when Jason was asked to perform a eulogy for a dead dove while on one of his hometown visits.Strange isn't it? Well, let's start from the beginning shall we?

This episode was going to have Mesnik jet-setting to three parts of the country and coming north of the border into Canada. (Yay! Sorry, I just can't help it!) First he visits Kelowna, B.C. and our hometown girl 'Jillian'. And let me tell you, the scenery with Lake Ogopogoo as a backdrop was absolutely breathtaking. While on their trip to the winery (and it was impressive), she finally opened up about her mother's 15-year battle with depression and what strain it put on her family. This was the moment Jason had been waiting for. It explained a lot and it gave him (and us) a further understanding as to what goes on in that pretty little head of our Canadian girl.

Her family visit was like being home myself. A typical 'Canuck' family that was oozing with warmth, love and plenty of humour eh! Mom with her list of questions and Jillian's dad draping a Canadian flag around Jason once he entered the house. Loved sweet grandma's special gift of 'maple leaf' boxer shorts too. During the credits at the end he ends up putting them on while Jillian's dad sings the Canadian National anthem. Jason blushing was as red as the leaves on those boxers.

Next we had our boy flying off to Grand Rapids, Michigan to visit 'Molly's' hometown. A couple of rounds of golf and some wine to loosen things up before meeting her parents was a nice touch, especially considering how much Jason loves golf too. Back home, Molly's family was also warm and loving with her dad more the conservative type. Her mom had a sense of humour having Jason draw a picture of Molly and what he sees look back at him during the rose ceremonies. The 'hat box' at the beginning was a nice invitation to break the ice with Jason while having him wearing a 'Chief's' dress on his head. Overall, another pleasant visit.

Now things start getting a little weird from here. Jason's next stop was Dallas, Texas, home of 'Melissa'. She gives him a really sweet gift she made for his son Ty (bonus!). But when she revealed that her parents weren't comfortable with the 'publicness' of this situation and wouldn't be meeting him today, you could clearly tell Jason wasn't too happy. Melissa did however, introduce him to some of her best friends. All very nice people. The one thing that struck me as odd is when Jason asked one of them if they'd ever met Melissa's parents and she too said, only once during a college pool party at their house. Sadly, as much as he really likes Melissa, Jason did comment that he doesn't know how much further things can go with her since he hasn't met any of her family. With that being said, I have a sneaky suspicion that she might be casualty numero three next week. But then again that remains to be seen.

Our last stop is Carlsbad, California. The hometown of 'Naomi' and the 'dove funeral' Jason was about to walk into. Frankly, I was rather confused about this meeting. Her family was nice, but they looked like they were all over the board. Her dad, a soft spoken man, appeared to be quite spiritual (his talk about God with Jason on their one-on-one) and then you have mother talking about reincarnation and spirituality, while playing with a hula-hoop. It was the strangest meeting yet. Not a bad bunch by any means, but it also made me understand why Naomi's parents were so completely mismatched. Divorce was not an option here, it was a darn tootin' blessing!

Next week should be exciting with their overnight dates taking place in New Zealand! The clips also show a real twist with DeAnna Pappas making an appearance. How convenient eh? I sure hope Jason learned a valuable lesson the last time she dumped him and sends her back to the States. But hey, look on the bright side, at least she'll have another ex-bachlorette to share the plane ride with this time! Oh did that ever sting! Did it ever!
