It ain't over till the fat lady sings. Well, I guess that time has finally come. 'Steven Page's' departure from BNL to pursue a solo career was announced on their website much to the surprise of hardcore 'Ladies' fans. Ed Robertson and co-founder of the band with Page over 20 years ago in Toronto maintains it was a difficult but mutual decision and took months of discussion.
The band had been through a difficult 2008 after Page, along with his girlfriend, and roommate were charged with drug possession after cocaine was found at a Fayetteville N.Y., apartment. The charges were later dropped after securing a deal to remain out of trouble for the next six months. That same summer, Robertson walked away unhurt after his plane crashed in Bancroft, Ont.
The band including Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, and Tyler Stewart will be back in the studio in April to record their new CD sans Pages signature voice. But have no immediate plans to replace him. Their first show at Universal Studios in Orlando is set for March 7.
BNL is responsible for the catchy tunes 'One Week', 'If I Had $1,000,000', and 'Brian Wilson' that put Toronto on the international map.
